Invaluable Tools from Transportation for America
Transportation for America, also known as T4A, is an alliance of elected, business and civic leaders from communities across the country, united to ensure that states and the federal government step up to invest in smart, homegrown, locally-driven transportation solutions — because T4A believes they are the investments that hold the key to our future economic prosperity.
They’ve made available invaluable tools for transportation stakeholders seeking to maximize our limited transportation dollars through education, smart planning, best practices, forward thinking, and civic engagement. Here’s the latest:
In December, T4A held a webinar entitled: “Transportation, the Transition, & a Trillion Dollar Infrastructure Bill: What We Know About the Next Administration & the New Congress”. If you missed their discussion on what to expect when it comes to infrastructure funding in 2017 under a new president and congress, catch up with the hour-long recording at http://t4america.org/webinars/transition-webinar-2016/recording.mp4. You can also download a copy of the presentations here: http://t4america.org/webinars/transition-webinar-2016/presentation.pdf.
And speaking of that new congress, T4A has also provided “New Administration Talking Points – Transportation Asks” you can download here https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7SfqMkuivUMOFN3d0dOTk9kLW8/view. They’d like to hear what projects you are working on in your community that are in the process to receive federal funding or if you plan to go to a federal program to ask for funding. Send your projects, topics and any other notes to Alex Depompolo on their policy team at email@example.com.
Prior to the election, T4A created a transition guide with Smart Growth America for the new administration. “Expanding the Economic Recovery to All Americans through Smarter Growth” is a short new guide of federal policy recommendations.
Last, but not least, they have a new briefing book for governors that shows them and their executive teams how a fresh approach to state transportation policy is fundamental to creating quality jobs and shared prosperity while running an efficient government that gets the greatest benefit from every taxpayer dollar. Go to http://t4america.org/maps-tools/state-policy-funding/governors-briefing-book to download your copy of “Transportation Innovations That Save States Money and Attract Talent“.
Here’s the bonus; transportation stakeholders at every level have access to these and other tools as well. We can learn the invaluable lessons, tips and guidance and help guide our policy makers as we all strive to improve Hampton Roads.
